Team Teach English in Japan

A unique, funded opportunity in Japan designed for U.S. college & university students to gain experience teaching non-native speakers of English.

College students and recent graduates spend 6-7 weeks in summer, fall or spring in Japan. Participants earn a Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) certificate, team teach in a public school system, and engage in deep cultural exchange with Japanese peers. Peers can also help participants learn basic Japanese or develop language skills further.

  • Knowledge of Japanese is not required.

  • Students may be pursuing any major.

  • Students may have freshmen, sophomore, junior, or senior status, or graduate the term prior to the term abroad.

 College & University Partnership
