GHJ International organizes on-site orientation; teaching of English as a foreign language (TEFL) training, including innovative team-teaching methods to improve English conversation education in the Japanese public school system; school placement; all lodging; and weekday meals.

GHJ International is a registered corporation of Japan, established in 1992 and operating in Nagasaki city. Over 100,000 U.S. and Japanese students have participated in GHJ programming over the years.

Mr. Guy Healy, Founder of GHJ International, has been providing exchange programs in education, culture, music, and sports since 1984.

Discover Japan as it is truly lived in Munakata City, a coastal community of approximately 100,000 people in northern Kyushu just 30 minutes from the modern city of Fukuoka.

Multiple Munakata City public schools host small teams of U.S. college and university student interns who work together to improve Japanese students’ English language skills.

UTEF extends an invitation to interns to learn basic Japanese or improve their Japanese language skills with university tutors.

Japanese and U.S. students spend time together bridging cultures through language education.

During the week, interns live at Global Arena in Munakata City.

Global Arena offers housing in large, shared rooms with multiple bunks in each. The campus is fully equipped with stadiums for rugby, soccer, athletics, tennis, and other sports. It has a training gym, meeting rooms, and restaurants. Other guests at the facility may be involved in sports competitions, training camps, school field trips, experiential learning, corporate training and meetings, or community events.
